Monster Class

I was recently contacted by the Arts Council inviting me to teach a Spring Break art class on whatever subject that strikes my fancy. Didn't take a whole lot of thought on my part, as shown above. I mean, when I was a kid all I wanted to do was draw monsters and ETs and Things That Go Squish In The Night, and I thought it would be a fun workshop. I expected to attract perhaps a half dozen 10 to 12 year old boys, but two my delight fourteen kids showed up! And even more amazing, over half of them were GIRLS!  THAT"S how cool the kids in Kodiak Alaska are! The flyer was fun to design, and below the flyer is a closer look at the Universal Monsters I drew for the corner art......
...so after a bit of instruction, the students leaned into their drawings, and in the course of our conversations we were able to determine the best ways to kill a vampire, a werewolf, a zombie, etc; and we reached a consensus that should we someday be visited by aliens from another galaxy, they would NOT come as conquerors (as so often depicted in the movies) but rather as scientists and explorers. Don't you agree that any species (ourselves included) that was  ever able to figure out how to jump to light speed (Star Wars) or Warp Speed (Star Trek) and were able to find another species out there would want to study them, make contact, come in peace and friendship?   Dialog and debate are welcome.....
Anyway, over the course of three days a splendid time was had by all with lots of laughs and fun conversation.
