...back in the 30's and 40's, when you had a "crush" on someone, you were said to be "carrying a torch" for them...
....Torch songs were songs of longing and loneliness, heartbreak and unrequited love, like this:

The Torch songs were some of the most beautiful songs ever written (I've even written one myself!!), and this drawing is just my salute to one of my most favorite musical genres.
